You can be a great problem solver, if you make your desire Sattvik. Bhagavad Gita has it all.

Problem is constant. In some way or the other, problem keeps knocking your door. Imagining a world or life with out problems is the real myth. For example, world had gone through horrible invasions earlier, and in the current scenario, we witness digital invasions. The problem of invasion is always there. How a country deals with it during that particular time is the question.

Problem of mental stress is always there. Mental suppression, facing disrespect, physical abuse is always there, these events keep occurring in our lives every now and then in different forms and through different situations. The question is , how do we solve these as per our requirement so that we are constantly working for us and for the people around us. It all depends on how we think, in other words, how we act as per our emotional quotient, social quotient, intelligence quotient and cognitive quotient. So, it is on us how we develop all these 4 quotients. By default, by birth, a person attains basic level of these quotients, as the person grows, through practice, one can attain balance by balancing all these Qs.

Whose help can we take to balance all these. Who is the expert for us who can transfer the whole knowledge only after he had practiced. He is none other than our dear Krishna. Well, does Krishna also talks about quotients? What does he stress upon to attain balance in one's life? What did Krishna talk to Arjuna and made Arjuna attain balance in the battle field and get the work done? Krishna talks about the faith one has and the nature one tends to be associated with.

Krishan tells

सत्त्वानुरूपा सर्वस्य श्रद्धा भवति भारत।

श्रद्धामयोऽयं पुरुषो यो यच्छ्रद्धः स एव सः।।17.3।।

sattvānurūpā sarvasya śraddhā bhavati bhārata.

śraddhāmayō.yaṅ puruṣō yō yacchraddhaḥ sa ēva saḥ৷৷17.3৷৷

Meaning - "The faith of everyone, is in accordance with his internal organ (Antahkarana like mind, intellect). Man consists of faith. Whatever his faith is, that verily is he."

In Chapter 14, Bhagavad gita, Krishna mentions about 3 gunas,

सत्त्वं रजस्तम इति गुणाः प्रकृतिसंभवाः।

निबध्नन्ति महाबाहो देहे देहिनमव्ययम्।।14.5।।

sattvaṅ rajastama iti guṇāḥ prakṛtisaṅbhavāḥ.

nibadhnanti mahābāhō dēhē dēhinamavyayam৷৷14.5৷৷

Meaning - "Mahaabaaho! Dear Strong Arjuna, every living creature's body is surrounded by these (gunas) qualities , Sattva, Rajas and Tamo  which are formed by nature and through nature. "

Now, lets see, how the quality and faith are related. Instead of quoting the shlokas of the whole chapter 17, I had made a table format, for us to understand clearly what is the difference in each quality and the thought process associated with each guna.

Parameter/ Guna

Sattvic

Rajasic

Thamasic

Basic qualities

Worship / Faith qualities

Shradha yajanthe

Devas

Yaksharaksha - the ones who take care of the things needed - like kubera

Bhoota -

Something which lives in past.

Remembering past.

Aahaara - Food's qualities

food enhances life, strength, well-being, happiness, love.

sweet and juicy, filling and tender, acceptable by heart, mind and body.

food creates impact on feelings or emotions like sadness, pain and distress, myth and illusion.

food is bitter, sour, salty, very hot, very old, dry, processed

if the food is 3 hours old, tasteless, bad smell or pungent smell, rotten, tasted and left over, impure

Yajna - Sacrifice or offering

Without thinking of result, and following the process,

Offering made with an expectation of something in return like great name , fame, money

Offering made without following the right procedure, without sharing of food, wealth, without any faith on the offering

Tapa (work and concentration)

Involvement of body, mind, speech and concentration on the ultimate, basically, without diversions

works that are performed with pride in order to gain respect and honour. These works cannot remain permanent and can keep on changing

Works performed, causing harm to self and to others in the form of foolish attempts and irrational trials, become thaamasic in nature.

Causing inconvenience or Torturing oneself or others due to fear.

Daana - Giving away or charity

Giving things or money or anything, doing good-to those who are in need, at the right time, right location, situation, to right people, whoever it might be

Doing good -

Because of the intention to attain some return or attractive returns, like name fame, or doing good unwillingly.

Doing good at unnecessary time, and location to people who dont need it, and doing it with no respect , with ill or cheap insult feeling

Let's observe the different modes, and analyse -  sattvik natured people, do not look for appreciations, accolades, medals, etc. They continuously keep working in their style, as per their capability, by learning or unlearning , by gaining and sharing knowledge. There is no break for their evolutionary path no matter how high and big they grow. Criticism also is turned into opportunity.

On the other hand, rajasic natured people, love to work, love to achieve, passion drives them, but at the same time, they look for recognitions, and self-pity, self-sympathy, play a major role. They might gain a lot of knowledge but desire for self- appreciation make them put a pause to their growth and evolution.

Thamasic natured people, work for namesake, just to meet the ends, just to fulfil the necessary requirements. They cannot constantly evolve or learn to grow, cannot solve a problem for a bigger audience rather would love to blame, ignore, avoid and feel they are left with no attention. Rajasic mode also sometimes makes people travel towards thamasic mode.

For example, "marketing is wrong" is the notion we all are driven into. But, a sattvik uses it to make people aware and make more activity happen leading from one to other to flourish and to evolve.  A sattvik thinks, "Lets market, let everybody know this and let everyone benefit out of it." A rajasic thinks, "lets market vigorously, let everyone know about our work. Lets make only our work visible, none of the other's work to be appreciated or applauded." A thamasic thinks, "is really marketing necessary. Let people decide and people opt. Let things go at their own pace."

Now that, we have clear differentiation, it is we , personally have to change ourselves from rajasic to sattvik. Never go low to rajasic or to thamasic. Be a problem solver by thinking like a sattvik. The solution for every problem should be involving the factors that are not personal and biased but are real and useful for many at a micro and macro level.

Every start up is formed based on this sattvik faith. Make your desire sattvik, however big or small, you can easily work on all the quotients you require in your life for every situation. It is difficult to become sattvik from rajasic, it takes lives after lives. Why not , we try in this lifetime, transfer everythought into sattvik, make every attempt sattvik, evolve to become sattvik.

You need not be a monk to become that, this is not rocket science, it just needs dedicated practice. We have live examples and everyone's favourite people in India who practice this lifestyle and stay as continuous constant achievers. Our PM Modiji, our ex- cricket captain M S Dhoni, and you can name as you keep pondering over.

All that we need to decide is to act now, with complete self-belief. Remember while following , the thumb rule is dont waste your energy and time on someone or something that doesnt deserve. Your mastery goes waste, hence, think and act wisely. This is the right thing.

अदेशकाले यद्दानमपात्रेभ्यश्च दीयते।

असत्कृतमवज्ञातं तत्तामसमुदाहृतम्।।17.22।।

adēśakālē yaddānamapātrēbhyaśca dīyatē.

asatkṛtamavajñātaṅ tattāmasamudāhṛtam৷৷17.22৷৷

Meaning - That gift which is given at the wrong place and wrong time to unworthy recipients, without due respect and with contempt, is called the gift of Tamasa nature.

Let us take this as a bar and decide our thought whether it is right at that particular moment.
