We have wonderful opportunities of new courses available online to improve our knowledge on any topic. The rise of online courses had broadened the scope of learning of the topics even if you are working.
But why should you learn even after you finished your graduation and post-graduation? Is that knowledge not enough to continue your work? Yes, it is enough only to a certain level. But what if you have to move ahead? Learning a course can solve this problem? No, but implementing the learning solves it.
For example, we read news about lakes getting dirtied due to construction waste or due to many other purposes. We read news about plastic reduction, reuse and recycle. We have many activists, social welfare enthusiasts, environmentalists creating awareness on the same. So, now, we are in a situation where enough of awareness is created. i.e., theory being driven. Now, what happens when it comes to practice. We all find reasons and excuses to put the theory into practice. We prioritize many other things over environment safety.
So is the case with our career. Learning theory is made easy. Udemy, mygreatlearning, Coursera have many courses in their websites, well planned and moulded. No entrance exam necessary, no admission fees needed, no long queues. No more solving of social dilemmas or social pressures if you do a course. You can finish all the classes at your pace. To test your learning, a test is also conducted at the end of the course and a certificate is handed over. But to evolve in your career, you can, only if you put the learning into practice.
You might be bubbling up with great ideas. But if you do not have an environment or if you haven't created that environment to put at least one of your ideas into practise, your growth cannot be guaranteed.
Let's see what Krishna says in Bhagavad Gita about the importance of theory and practice.
Chapter 3 Verse 3, 4
श्री भगवानुवाच
लोकेऽस्मिन्द्विविधा निष्ठा पुरा प्रोक्ता मयानघ।
ज्ञानयोगेन सांख्यानां कर्मयोगेन योगिनाम्।।3.3।।
śrī bhagavānuvāca
lōkē.smindvividhā niṣṭhā purā prōktā mayānagha.
jñānayōgēna sāṅkhyānāṅ karmayōgēna yōginām৷৷3.3৷৷
Meaning - Sri Krishna said - " Anagha, sinless one, I had already mentioned, there are two ways of learning in the world, one is jnana yoga - followed by analytical thinkers and philosophers ; karma yoga - action led path followed by others."
न कर्मणामनारम्भान्नैष्कर्म्यं पुरुषोऽश्नुते।
न च संन्यसनादेव सिद्धिं समधिगच्छति।।3.4।।
na karmaṇāmanārambhānnaiṣkarmyaṅ puruṣō.śnutē.
na ca saṅnyasanādēva siddhiṅ samadhigacchati৷৷3.4৷৷
Meaning - Krishna continues, "Neither just by actions nor by knowledge nor by renunciation, a person can reach higher level."
In chapter 5, Krishna mentions clearly, how important it is to use both theoretical knowledge and practical knowledge and perform one's duties to reach a higher level.
सांख्ययोगौ पृथग्बालाः प्रवदन्ति न पण्डिताः।
एकमप्यास्थितः सम्यगुभयोर्विन्दते फलम्।।5.4।।
sāṅkhyayōgau pṛthagbālāḥ pravadanti na paṇḍitāḥ.
ēkamapyāsthitaḥ samyagubhayōrvindatē phalam৷৷5.4৷৷
Meaning - Krishna said, " Only ignorant people, think the theoretical (philosophical) and practical (action) knowledge are different. The person who understands that both should be clubbed together , will reach the higher level."
Not just for freshers, but also to experts, this is a lesson if we want to constantly grow well in career.
Let's explore Bhagavad Gita. Let's understand and implement Bhagavad Gita. Let's evolve ourselves to be a better us and let this fill us with confidence from within.
