Aw....What a small word it is and yet it has got the best power in the whole world, in itself.
"SELF CONFIDENCE"
There are many situations where I was in a dilemma whether I can portray myself as the best I know to me. But then, something always stops me from talking confidently, walking confidently, looking confidently. or during some situations I wear a mask to cover my true self. I pondered on the same , I questioned on the same to myself. I got an answer, that whenever I look up to someone on their abilities better than mine or which I am not capable of or which I am not satisfied of, or I always think the other person is wonderful and I don't know anything, I get this nausea of inferiority complex.
I recently learnt, thinking like this, like feeling inferior even if I am capable, is the biggest mistake ever.
I repeat.....'feeling low' is the biggest mistake ever than a simple lie, the biggest mistake ever than harming anyone or a thing, ever than taking any weird path, because, for every above-mentioned mistake, there is only one reason and that is 'Having No Confidence'. This acts as fear and this makes us fall into a pit of so called mistakes.
So, is 'being confident' important in every moment of my life or only when attending an interview or presenting big to your boss or to your customer? No doubt, it is needed in every moment of your life. Then the question arises why are we not being the same or why are we not teaching our kids the same. Lets all ponder on the same...But what makes you confident all the time. Is it possible? Yes, it is possible to stay confident all time and you need a strong factor which helps you in this. Let's discuss detailly. before that,
Here is an anecdote from my life about the power of self confidence.
My dad, like for anyone, is my role model. He lives an exemplary life. I shall explain what exemplary means for me.
Well, I don't remember an incident where he was sitting and chatting with us for hours nor he was asking us to follow him, nor he was asking us to behave in such and such manner. All that he did was, he led his life and that became an example for us.
Now I explain what exemplary is , being dharmic, being righteous, i.e., being dutiful in every angle.
Many times, I thought why should my dad be so dharmic? What does he get out of it? After I got married and got my own family, many times I thought I cant be like my dad ... I will be denied by people, I remain with sadness, I remain with expectations...surprisingly, then I realized, I never saw my dad in all these angles, though he followed his dharma. Then why will I be witnessing these. Probably, because he knows what he gets if he follows dharma, ultimate happiness and yes, 'confidence' - the most important of all.
He has his time for family, business, social work and his personal time. No compromise on any of those. Rather well planned and executed. People who complained about him when he was climbing each step, now look up to him and say, what he did was correct and how he led was 'the way'. He is punctual, disciplined, always aims for a higher purpose.
Well, so, now, without expectation about smaller and short term happiness, I understood what I needed and followed my conscience in performing my duties. And yes, needless to say, I experienced that confidence and stayed happy, rather I would say, stayed peaceful. The big question is am I giving my time to everything like my dad did? No, but whatever I do, I do it right, na na, do it as per my duty.
Meaning of Self - Confidence I knew till now -
So what is the confidence I had or I was taught when I was doing my MBA or when I was presenting my seminars or when I attended my interviews or when I met my customer? Yaa, no doubt I was doing my homework all time and hence I could bet it the best. So, what happens to the same confidence when I have to lead my daily life?
Probably I was not taught what actual confidence is? Probably I have a completely different meaning about confidence? The meaning I knew till now is similar to confidence to be showcased only when you exhibit yourself to people. And how about attending a number of workshops and seminars on the same to build my confidence and boost up my confidence every now and then?
Wait, let me think out loud! Does it really matter to you what happens in the world when you are following your duty with confidence and when it is on your face and body language. And when you do your duty, the whole universe is with you, and even the strongest of forces also will take a back step.
Just like....it is described in Shlokas 14- 19, in our Bhagavad Gita, the ultimate life lesson book, How the team Duryodana, in spite of having scholars in his team, takes a step back, questions his own power after listening to the sound of conch shells of Pandavas. The sound of those dharmic souls' conch shells reverberated in the war place. the sound of confidence of Pandavas made Duryodana question, his own ability and his team's ability.
Chapter 1 - Shloka 19 -
The blowing of the different conchshells created (vyadha) distress in the hearts of the sons of Dhrtarashtra . It was uproarious, resounding both in the sky and on the earth as well.
Infact, the real situation of Duryodana before hearing the sound of Pandava's Conchshells was, he analyzed his opposition, Pandavas power, he analyzed his own team's power, gave warning to his own grand father to blow the conchshell as a signal to start the war. His grandfather's conchshell and the whole Kaurava team's sounded like the lion's roar, the combined sound of trumpets, drums, was uproarious too. So, the question comes, why was he shattered when he in turn heard the Pandava's sound? I think, now we get what the sound of Self-confidence is like.
Chapter 1 - Shlokas 14- 19 meaning goes like
On the other side, both Lord Krishna and Arjuna, stationed on a great chariot drawn by white horses, sounded their divine conchshells.
Then, lord Krishna( Hrishikesha) blew his conchshell, called Panchjanya, Arjuna (Dhananjaya) blew his, the Devadatta, and Bhima (Vrukodara), the voracious eater, and performer of herculean tasks, blew his terrific conchshell called Paundram.

Anantavijaya, King Yudhishtara, the son of Kunti blew his Conchshell,
Nakula and Sahadeva blew the Sughosha and Manipushpaka.
The great archer the King of Kasi, the great fighter Sikhandi,
Drushtadyumna, Virata and the unconquerable Satyaki, Drupada,
the sons of Draupadi, and others,
such as son of Subhadra, greatly armed, all blew their respective conchshells.
The blowing of these different conchshells became uproarious, and thus, vibrating both in the sky and on the earth, it shattered the hearts of the sons of Dhrtarashtra.
End note- Now the question arises, what is being dharmic, how do I know what is my actual duty? Krishna has a short and sweet explanation for all our queries.
